60 and beyond ....

Well I made it ! I have officially reached the great age of 60 years.
Had a fantastic time, with lots of;
great company, good food and lots of booze.
A big thankyou to everyone for their wonderful generosity.
My best present of all was coming home from the gallery
on Saturday, to see my two sons, sat at our kitchen table.
Thanks boys.

I was absolutely stunned and was jumping up and down,
laughing and crying at the same time.  Justin, my partner,
had organised it with them and managed to keep it an
absolute secret...... best party ever.
They left this morning and I'm having a quiet moment updating
this blog.  I still have a smile on my face and will do for
many a long day.
Tomorrow it's back to my studio and the elephant in the room!

Amazing Find

Chanced upon this at our local charity shop.
It was love at first sight.  I had no idea what I
was going to do with it but it had to be mine.
Got it for a song, as it was taking up a lot of space
and they didn't know where to put it.
A case of being in the right place, at the right time.

The piece is living in the gallery at the moment so that I can study it.
Several ideas have come to me as the background is hessian, which is
my preferred medium for working on (more later).
It's attracted lots of attention and I could have sold it several times over.
One lady in particular (and she knows who she is) was crawling
on her hands and knees to look at it.  She practically begged me to
let her have it but sometimes you have to stick out for what you want
and I know that I am not ready to part with it yet.
The sheep's fleeces are all made from the breeds they represent.
It is in need of a little repair and some cleaning and a lot of love.
Coming to my studio as soon as the large frame I have is unoccupied
and I can give it the attention it deserves.
So watch this space.....

It must be Spring

Justin is venturing into his studio today, so it must be Spring.
He's been working on the kitchen table lately, it's been so cold.
Here are some pics taken yesterday in our garden

                                     Heart, fashioned out of Jasmine
and last but not least, Ethel,
who had a nasty fall at the gallery, yesterday.
She emerged unscathed, thank goodness and is once more, serene.

Postcards

So excited!
I've been considering having my Farm Rug photographed, with
the idea of making it into a postcard and yesterday it happened.
I knitted the rug for Christmas for my sons (now all grown up).
It lives in the gallery, for small children to play with and
gets lots of attention.

The two images above are the outcome.  Liked both images
so decided to order some of each.  I'm thrilled and can't wait
for delivery.  It's so exciting to see something you've made in print.

Home alone

Home alone day today.  Justin is looking after the gallery and
keeping Ethel company, along with our dog, Gemma.

Gemma dog

Means I can spend the day in my studio without interruption
Bliss!
Have lots of projects on the go.  What to work on?
It should be the 'elephant in the room'
I've been working on it for over a year, on and off.
Lost my way for a while but it's almost finished.
Will reveal all later.

Hand Crochet Mittens with Dorset Button detail

Managed to complete the mittens, yesterday, despite having to go to a meeting
in Pateley Bridge, that I had got into my head was next Tuesday.
The perils of getting older, sorry Lynn.

First Post

Hello, it is a beautiful Spring day outside and this is my first post on my new blog.

Dorset Buttons
My first attempt at buttons for a pair of crochet gloves.
 I am quietly pleased.
Am in my studio later (if I can ever extricate myself from this new obsession).
Hopefully, I will complete assembling them.  More pics later.....

Yorkshire Landscape
Just completed this landscape.
The frame definitely makes me think of Spring.
It's going to the gallery on Wednesday
