Fan........tastic

It's been a mad and very busy weekend at the gallery.
That's me, all dressed up as
Mrs Sew n Sew,
Make do and Mend.
Good fun was had by all.

When I managed to get a day off, I finished this shawl.
Here modelled by Ethel, who loves it.
The variegated wool worked perfectly emphasising the
triangular fan shapes.

Needs blocking but very pleased with the result.

The Dorset button that I made from the same wool,
finishes it off a treat.
It will be appearing in the gallery today.

Knitting Pretty

Just a quick entry today, as I am busy preparing for the
Nidderdale Art Festival, which starts tomorrow and continues until
Bank Holiday Monday.
Today, one of the exhibitors at the gallery is setting up, so I have to prepare her space.
An added complication is the 40's weekend, which starts on Saturday.
I shall be running around, 'trying to catch my tail'.

Just time to show you how my new mittens turned out.
Love the way they have knitted up.  They have gone on sale
in the gallery but may put them on Etsy too.

Treated myself to two more balls;  Autumn Sun (left) and Parrot.
Can't wait to start knitting, time permitting, of course.
 I'm undeniably, 'hooked'!

Last but definitely not least I had a lucky find in a Charity Shop
yesterday. A book by my heroine, Jan Messent

Can't wait to delve into it's pages.
Her book, Wool-n-Magic began my whole textile adventure.
Happy Days!

Make Do and Mend

I have been very preoccupied this week with ideas for our
contribution to the 40's Weekend in Pateley Bridge.
August 17th & 18th.
Had a 'light bulb' moment and thought that the Make-Do and Mend
philosophy promulgated during the Second World War
would fit in perfectly with Ethel's Haberdashery.

I found this lovely image online from the era, that looked a lot like Ethel
and also the two below.

Going to make a promotional poster of some sort using these.
It's still fermenting in my brain.  Going to dress up too.

Highly delighted, I successfully bid for this Land Army Apron on ebay.
An idea is forming ...... got to go.
more later.
